In 2014, Andersen's original musical, HeadVoice, premiered at Elon University and, in 2015, was selected and produced by the New York Musical Festival. "Complete with rich harmonies and a book, music, and lyrics by Ethan Andersen, this show hits home in a charming, truthful way." (Times Square Chronicles).
In 2016, Ethan's children's musical, Rootabaga Express!, premiered at Flat Rock Playhouse and is produced every summer at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. Ethan's new musical, YOUlogy, received an industry reading starring Lianah Sta. Ana and Conor Ryan in May 2018. In 2019, Ethan adapted the popular children's phonics program, Letterland, used in classrooms across the country and predominantly in England into a musical which toured the North Carolina school system.
As a music director, Andersen was MD/Conductor of the Saturday Night Fever national tour, Resident MD/Conductor of Flat Rock Playhouse, the state theater of North Carolina, as well as MD/Conductor of Elon University's Music Theatre program, one of the top MT programs in the country. "Ethan Andersen brilliantly navigated the difficult score, with the orchestra sounding the best it has in recent memory under his baton." (Classical Voice of North Carolina). Ethan has also arranged, orchestrated, and conducted for BCEFA's Easter Bonnet and Broadway Backwards.
Ethan is a proud member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, ASCAP, and the Dramatists Guild. He is currently a member of the AMDA faculty and living in New York City with his dog, Floyd.
